About UsDear all,
There is a great opportunity this year to run, or co-run, a Fun Palaces event. Fun Palaces is a project with the manifesto statement "Everyone an Artist, Everyone a Scientist", and the Fun Palaces themselves are a network of events held across the country (and even across the world) over a weekend in October, this year 7th & 8th October. These events can be anything which combines arts/science/tech in imaginative, fun and creative ways - games, activities, workshops. You really can let your imaginations run wild. As quoted from the website, "Fun Palaces are made by local people for their own communities, bringing together arts and sciences, crafts, tech and digital, free and fun, linked by the the Fun Palace network". |
A better idea of what Fun Palaces are can be gained from this video:

So far, there have been preliminary discussions including the British Science Association (BSA) Cornwall branch, Falmouth Art Gallery, the National Maritime Museum, the Pavillion Gardens and the Falmouth Poly, as well as other local organisations and individuals, who are all interested in being involved in running a Fun Palaces event, perhaps spanning Falmouth and Penryn. The great news is that to help with organising events, the Fun Palaces team run a series of workshops providing support and advice to groups and individuals. There are two workshops taking place in Cornwall, the first in Truro on the 29th June and the 2nd in Bodmin on the 30th June. Representatives from the BSA will being attending the first of these, but anyone interested in attending will be very welcome at either. For further information contact the BSA Cornwall chair, Matthew Creasey ([email protected]). |
Our History |
The foundation of Fun Palaces is community, so we would love to hear from anyone who is interested in helping to plan and run a Falmouth area event. For further information or to express and interest, please contact Matthew Creasey (BSA Cornwall chair - [email protected]). |
