Introducing: Cornwall Science Community
In and for Cornwall specifically, the Cornwall Science Community first came into existence in 2019, from the charred remains of the (short-lived) Cornwall branch of the British Science Association.

'To stay the same, we will have to change....'
Giuseppe di Lampedusa: The Leopard. .................................. There were to be no Falmouth Cafe Sci talks planned for the early Spring season of 2019. It was time to take a short break, whilst we focussed on organisation and networking for the programme of what was to be the Cornwall branch of the British Science Association (see side panel). All this changes, though, with an announcement from the BSA national body in January that they were disbanding the entire local branches structure, from the summer or 2019. We are cast adrift. But the national body did say they could offer advice and support to any local groups that wished to continue, but henceforth as autonomous community group associations. After some discussion, we here in Cornwall decided to do just that - little realising just how much work that would entail. We need a new name - we have settled on Cornwall Science Community - and a new consititution; a formal meeting to adopt it, and transfer of all BSA resources to the CSC; a bank account - for which we must wait til the consitition is agreed. Then GDPR, public liability insurance - the list sometimes seems endless. Most important - and most immediate - was that we would need a complete re-write of the BSA[C] proto-website, and transfer of all its page structure and content, create a new domain name etc etc. But this is now completed, and you can see what we will be up to here: https://cornwallsciencecommunity.org/ More news to follow, as and when we have more actually functioning.

So is this. The real stuff is on the next panels.
